I'm Ranting

When you hear the term gay do you ever think "Gee, gay used to be such a nice word. Now it's used to refer to homosexual guys or as an insult." I do. Whenever I hear someone say "That's gay." (usually stupid male teenagers) I just want to slug 'em.
When you start thinking about the subject of word misuse you realize that the English language has done it many times. For instance, gay used to mean happy, ripped used to mean just what it sounds like, and a six-pack used to refer to beer. but those are just a few examples of twisting word meanings. There is also misuse of words in sentences without even understanding the words meaning. The most destroyed word from that is *shudder* like. People pepper their sentences with the word "like" for reasons such as "It makes me sound smarter." (it doesn't), "everybody else does it!" (which is true), and who could forget, "I don't know"
I feel sorry for those poor abused words, and I hope someday we stop killing them ,but, with text language, that's never going to happen.
